I enjoyed seeing Julie relating a lovely native american tradition to modern day issues. The awareness her story brings to bullying, coupled with a fantastic solution- which includes a fun project- excites the students. They are eager to learn of a different culture and ideas. After a trip west and several visits to Native American nations, I could not wait to read Julie’s book to my boys. I had purchased talking sticks for each of my grandsons. The story captivated both boys when they realized Nathan’s stick was the same as theirs. It is a beautifully illustrated book with an equally beautiful story. I am purchasing the book for each of my grandsons’ classrooms – Sue
